Why Retire to the Philippines

Why, you say?

Because everything we need for our retirement is over there!

• the cost of living is amazingly affordable
• the climate is mild (not too hot/not too cold)
• living is “safe and secure” (like anywhere in the world)
• the people speak English, no need to learn a new language
• people are friendly, hospitable, warm and somewhat “Westernized”
• majority of the people are Christian, so there are no dietary laws to observe
• the country is lovely and the night life in the city is alive
• so many more other reasons!

This little country seems to be the best place for retirement!

MANILA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manila

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and the second largest city by population after Quezon City.

The city proper is home to 1,780,148 people in 2015.

Manila is located at the mouth of the Pasig River, on the eastern shore of the Manila Bay on one of the finest harbors in the country.

Manila became the center of Spanish activity in the Far East and one end of the Manila–Acapulco galleon trade route linking Spanish America with Asia, one of the earliest examples of globalization. Because of its central location on Pacific trade routes, Manila received the moniker “Pearl of the Orient”. Spanish rule of the Philippine archipelago lasted for more than three centuries, until 1898.

In the 19th century, Manila was one of the most modern cities in Asia. Before the Spanish–American War, it saw the rise of the Philippine Revolution. After the war, the United States took control, switched the official language from Spanish to English, and made changes in education, local laws, and urban planning. Near the end of World War II, during the Battle of Manila, most of the city was flattened by intensive aerial bombardment by the United States Air Force. As a result, relatively little remains of Manila’s prewar and colonial architecture, although there are ongoing restoration projects, especially within the old walled city, Intramuros. – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manila

Manila City, the capital city of the Philippines, has many of the landmarks that are significant in the history of the Philippines including Intramuros (Spanish Walled City) and Luneta or Rizal Park. Malacanang Palace, the official residence of the President of the Philippines and an attraction on its own, is located in Manila. So are many projects of the past Marcos administration including the Cultural Center of the Philippines that it shares with Pasay. Not only is Manila port the entry point for shipments coming from all areas of the country and the world but Quiapo and Divisoria, two major shopping districts where you can find the best bargains are located in this city.  – http://www.thousandwonders.net/Metro+Manila
