Why Retire to the Philippines
Why, you say?
Because everything we need for our retirement is over there!
• the cost of living is amazingly affordable
• the climate is mild (not too hot/not too cold)
• living is “safe and secure” (like anywhere in the world)
• the people speak English, no need to learn a new language
• people are friendly, hospitable, warm and somewhat “Westernized”
• majority of the people are Christian, so there are no dietary laws to observe
• the country is lovely and the night life in the city is alive
• so many more other reasons! This little country seems to be the best place for retirement!
ANILAO BEACHES & DIVE SITES
Anilao Batangas – Just a two-and-a-half hour drive south of Manila, Anilao, is regarded as a world-class diving spot in the Philippines. There is something ideal for everyone here – from photography and research, kayaking, snorkeling, to diving sites for both beginner and the expert divers. Diving in Anilao has developed and is at the forefront of the industry in the Philippines to this day.
Visibility is very good, about 60ft. on average, and underwater currents can vary from virtually non-existent to strong, although the surface tends to remain relatively calm. Most of the best dives are actually found around the islands of Sombrero and Maricaban, a short boat trip away from Anilao.
Anilao has been known for years as a choice weekend getaway spot for some snorkeling or scuba diving. In addition, Anilao is a hidden gem that offers world-class diving and incredible macro photo opportunities. Anilao has some of the highest concentration of diverse marine life on the planet, including over 90% of the coral species in the world.
Anilao is popular with divers and snorkelers. The waters surrounding the area are teeming with marine life, plenty of corals and amazing diversity of fishes.
The northwest shore of the Calumpang Peninsula, from Anilao to Bagalangit, is lined with local resorts that cater primarily to local tourists. Although the beach at Anilao is not recommended for swimming, thatched bamboo rafts, rustic cabins and picnic cabanas are available for rental at local resorts.
From these resorts, you can also rent a boat for island hopping and visit the diving spots, coves, and islands like the Sombrero and Maricaban islands.
